Absolute Multiline for the Giant Magelan Telescope

The Giant Magelan Telescope is one of the most ambitious science projects in the world. In August, Etalon delivered an Absolute Multiline System to the Giant Magelan Telescope Organisation (GMTO). The system is planned to be used to monitor and pre-set the orientation between the primary and secondary mirrors of this truly gigantic telescope. In the coming months, it will undergo extensive testing at the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) in Arizona, to evaluate its performance under real telescope conditions and determine the requirements for the final system, that will see “first light” in 2024. Etalon is exited to be part of this breath-taking project!
